Day 14: Rome Redemption

Started the day on this very green bus. Might just avoid the subway entirely. Hit a little cafe before the e-bike tour.

First stop on the tour included the spotted lizards. We think they were straight up making out.

12.5 miles of wall around this city, that’s a lot!

The landscape opened up nicely outside the wall. Stefano designated me to lead the group while he stopped traffic, massive honor.

This was a horse racing track that a rich Roman king guy built but got like killed in a river battle before he ever got to see horses race here I guess.

Jean smuggling all kinds of drugs.

E-biking down this road that was built in 320 BC. You heard me right, before Christ.

And DHL delivers here too, let’s go!

Their tree trimming is in god mode.

Aqueducts still standing. Derek showed this meme where the first diagram is of a Roman aqueduct and the second diagram is modern water delivery. They are very similar but the modern system has a point that says, “adding drugs that make you gay” before it gets to the houses.

Andy was blasting off some pictures.

I liked this dog.

Didn’t know it was a straw like that but it makes sense.

Post ride beers even though you barely need to pedal.

Blasting off more photos, now of famous fountain.

Not sure why we didn’t need to wait in this line but we just didn’t.

Only light in the whole place is the opening in the dome.

This bird flew in and couldn’t figure out where the hell to go. It was making circles and trying to find a place to land for maybe three minutes until it escaped. Everyone was clapping and cheering when it did. Some things cross all cultures, races, regions, etc.

Looking for one thing and one thing only.

Espresso, macaron, sparkling water, cheeseburger, and banana milkshake.

These are famous stairs called the Spanish stairs I guess.

Everyone was drinking out of this fountain. Oh and I forgot, that last fountain is actually still fed by the last remaining original aqueduct, neat.

Is that supposed to scare me?

Airbnb lobby decor.

There was legitimately a toddler walking around this bar at 10 pm. Love that about Italy. It’s a low judgement, make you own rules type of place. Been meaning to try Orval for a long time. Nice! Rome hit hard, but today, we hit back. It’s fascinating seeing all these beautiful McDonald’s items in other countries. Do you think there are McDonald’s items that are relatively slept on? Or do you think there is something they should add to the menu? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading my blog today!

Ciao!
