Day 13: Pickpocketed
Today was tough, no two ways about it.
It was a scorching 89 degrees and we were wearing pants because that’s a rule at the Sistine Chapel.7 million people visit the Vatican every year.
€ 20 plus per person and they’re still acting like they can’t afford AC.
This hallway was nice.
This is where they used to broadcast their radio service. I was expecting the Vatican City to be like hogwarts or something but it was more like rural Florida energy.
The Sistine Chapel (no photos allowed) was impressive and I was chuckling about this IG reel that Quinn showed me a while back. Reach out to him if you’re interested.
Next up was a tour of the colosseum. There were lots of people waiting to get on an already packed subway. In the panic, both Jean and Andy got pickpocketed. Luckily, it was just their wallets and not their phones or passports. By the time we had locked all their cards, replaced their metro passes, and arrived at the colosseum, I was cooked. Another 2-hour tour in the heat would have had me hospitalized so I went and chilled at a cafe. The tour ended up getting canceled anyway and we regrouped at the cafe. Decided to call it a day and returned to the airbnb for naps, beers, and some cards. Thanks for reading the blog today. I hope it wasn’t a huge downer. We are very fortunate to get to do a trip like this. And you know, some days are amazing and other days you get robbed, that’s just traveling.
Ciao!

The day I hoped that would never come. My condolences to Andy and Jean
